Say It Better: Moving Beyond Show Don't Tell

There are times when words don’t seem to be enough or when we can’t find the right words to show our meaning. Playing with metaphor in your writing can unlock your voice, provide new ideas and intensify your work. It can advance good writing to excellent writing and absorb the reader in your piece. You are likely using metaphors in your writing, maybe even without realizing it. Being conscious of your chosen metaphors and crafting them wisely can turn your work into a fine-tuned piece. We will look at some examples and practice writing expanded metaphors. You will leave this workshop with a better understanding of how to craft metaphors and elevate your writing.
